Top 7 benefits of adding your business to local listing sites:
- Amplify your online presence.
- Improve your local visibility.
- Get found in more places more often.
- Leverage word of mouth from reviews.
- Boost your business reputation.
- Increase your brand awareness.
- Boost your SEO.
Use the N.A.P. rule for local listing sites to help Google to help you!
N.A.P. stands for:
- Name
- Address
- Phone
Google needs to see your business name, address and phone number in the exact same format on every local site so it can identify your business as the same business on each listing. For example, if you list your address as 37 Smith St, Jamestown NSW on one listing and as 37 Smith Street, Jamestown NSW 2001 on another listing, Google may not perceive those as the same address.
Similarly, if you add a landline on one site and a mobile number on another, it may appear to Google as two different businesses, thus diluting the strength of your listings.
While this list (updated April 2018) may not specifically address your geographic location, I encourage you to use it as a starting point for compiling your own local list.

Increasing your chances of getting found in Google
Please be aware that most of these resources also offer you some kind of analytics report on visitors to your site from your listing, plus the opportunity for priority placement of your listing by paying a monthly fee. Before jumping in and committing to a monthly fee, I suggest that you let your listing run for a couple of months, check your reports from each listing, then make an informed decision about whether or not to pay for priority placement with that local listing provider.
